Cleansing with smoke is an ancient ritual that humans have participated in for millennia, across many different countries and cultures. This ritual is performed to cleanse a person’s energy, any retained energy in dwellings and to provide a greater connection with your spirituality.
What is Palo Santo?
Palo Santo means 'holy wood' in Spanish and is harvested from a sacred tree which grows in South America. It is also a natural insect repellent. Palo Santo is used to clear spaces and people of negative energy and also as a ritual to mark new beginnings. At 23 Urban we are proud to stock sustainably grown Palo Santo from Peru.
What is White Sage?
White Sage has a natural antiseptic effect and clears the air of pathogens and germs. White Sage is used to clear spaces and people of negative collected energy. At 23 Urban we are proud to stock sustainably grown White Sage from California, USA.
About Clear Quartz
Clear Quartz is known as a 'Master Amplifier' crystal and is helpful in creating mental clarity and clears blockages. You can place your Clear Quartz tumblestone on a desk or in an area that you use for meditation or contemplative thought.
About Amethyst
Amethyst has protective and gently nurturing qualities. It helps to sooth irritability and mood swings and can help you to connect to your intuition and higher senses during meditation. Amethyst also helps to promote restful sleep and protection from nightmares. You can place your Amethyst tumblestone next to your bed or under your pillow.
About the Black Marble Fossil Bowl
These beautiful black marble bowls contain the naturally occurring fossils of Orthoceras and Ammonites. Orthoceras are an ancient relative of the modern day squid and these fossils are up to 395 million years old! Ammonites were a shelled animal that became extinct about 66 million years ago.
These Marble Fossil Bowls have been ethically and environmentally sourced in Morocco. These Bowls are 12cm in diameter, 3cm high and weigh about 200g. As each bowl is unique, your bowl may differ in appearance to the one in the photos.
How to use:
- Open all the doors and windows of your home to allow any collected energy to escape.
- If you are using Palo Santo, over your Black Marble Fossil Bowl, light the end of the Palo Santo, allowing it to burn for about 30 seconds, then blow gently on the flames to extinguish them and allow the smoke to rise.
- Place the Palo Santo smoking end down in the bowl.
- Start at the front door of your home and work clockwise around every room, allowing the smoke to drift where it needs to.
- During this process you may also wish to ask (out loud) for any collected energies or spirits to kindly leave your space.
- If you are using the White Sage, follow the same process as above, but hold the White Sage over the bowl as you move around your home or office to catch any ashes.
Before smudging your home, please be mindful of any fire rules or regulations in your building. Ensure that the Black Marble Fossil Bowl is used to catch any ashes that may be hot or create a fire hazard. Please ensure you extinguish your Palo Santo and White Sage after using, stubbing out in the soil of a plant pot, or a dish of sand, is a good way to do this.
